Confocal microscopy showing Cryptosporidium parvum–induced B7-H1 expression in biliary epithelial cells in vitro. Nuclei of cells were labeled with 46-diamidino-2- phenylindole (blue), and C. parvum was stained with a polyclonal antibody (red). Expression of b7-H1 protein, stained with a monoclonal antibody (green), was seen in both directly infected cells and bystander noninfected cells. (See Gong et al, on pp 160–9.)
