Abstract
In the 1 May 2005 issue of the Journal there are the following errors in the article by Castor et al. (Castor ML, Wagstrom EA, Danila RN, et al. An outbreak of Pontiac fever with respiratory distress among workers performing high-pressure cleaning at a sugar-beet processing plant. J Infect Dis 2005; 191:1530–7): In the fourth sentence of the second paragraph in the “Environmental testing” subsection of the Results section, the first clause should read as “Escherichia coli counts were 620–1100 MPN (most probable number) per 100 mL.” Also, in the “Total plate count” column in table 3, the “Water from pump house” entry should be 1.6 × 106 (not 107), and the “Swab of evaporator vessel tubes” entry should be “…” (rather than “⩾4”). The latter of these 2 corrections to the table indicates that no testing was performed (see the table’s general “Note”). The publisher regrets these errors
