Coevolution of animals and plants in all forms has long fascinated biologists. This book concerns the mutual dependence of birds and plants or, more specifically, some birds and some trees of the genus Pinus. It should be pointed out at the begining of this review that this book is not directed to the specialists in the field. Instead, the expected reader is apparently the interested American nonprofessional biologist. The style is very informal and personal and no references are given in the text (a few are to be found in the Notes) which makes reading very easy, but provides little guidance for those who become more deeply interested. Inches and pounds are used rather than metric values, which makes it easier for American readers but worse for non‐Americans. The title is too general for the content as the major bulk of the text concerns Clark’s Nutcracker and the Whitebarked pine with only short references to other systems like the Eurasian Nutcracker and the Siberian Stone Pine.
