It has come to our attention there are several errors in “Design of selection schemes to include tick resistance in the breeding goal for Hereford and Braford cattle”(J. Anim Sci. 94:572–583).

ABSTRACT

An error in the 14th line of second column, should read as follows:

6p

MATERIALS and METHODS

In the Selection Index Calculation section, the sentence starting on line 6 of the second paragraph should read as follows:

“When the type of information used in the index was the phenotype, P and G consisted of the values estimated directly from the phenotypes and pedigree in the target population.”

Also, in the same section, the sentence beginning on line 12 of the same paragraph should read as follows:

“Assuming a single record measured on each selection candidate and following the equations from Dekkers (2007), …”

And in the Sensitivity Analysis section, the sentence beginning on line 15 should read as follows:

“This was analogously done by ESTC = RSTC*/RSTC (Smith, 1983), in which RSTC* is genetic gain in TC with the new correlation between TC and the other DGI criteria were increased or decreased by 0.2 and RSTC is the corresponding value with the original correlations.”

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Finally, the first sentence of the second paragraph of Accuracy of Selection Indexes section should read as follows:

“Comparing scenarios with the use of GEBV and phenotype, it can be seen that using GEBV yielded RIH gains when rMG was greater than 0.5, indicating that genomic selection for the traits considered in this study begin to be favorable after this threshold (i.e., rMG > 0.5).”

And the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Overall Genetic Gain section should read as follows:

Adding genomic information only for TC with relative weight of 10% for this trait made practically no difference in overall gain (ΔG was $49.20 in the 90% DGI + 10% TC scenario and ΔG was between $48.52 and $50.74 in the 90% DGI + 10% TCg scenario).
