Classic Articles
This virtual issue highlights some of Historical Research’s most popular articles from the recent archives. These have emerged over the years as some of our most downloaded or cited works. Like the journal itself they represent a range of topics and periods, and they draw their longevity from a relevance to topics of perennial interest both to historians and to a wider readership. While it is usually difficult to pick out individual articles to showcase, especially having spent as many years as I have reading and working on so much worthwhile material (and despite the pleasure of revisiting particular favourites), this selection has been easy to put together because it is effectively chosen by our readers.
