Abstract
A survey of 755 senior centers revealed that less than one-third plan or coordinate activities with 22 kinds of community agencies. Referrals of elderly to or from these agencies was more common but collocation of services was very rare. The most often cited barriers to senior center linkages were a lack of transportation, time, communication, and an understanding of the elderly's needs. Size of budget was associated with the number of linkages and reported barriers. These findings are used in an examination of the role senior centers play as focal points for service delivery to the elderly.
