Abstract

Assisting the aging adult to relocate in housing appropriate to his functional capacities and his tolerance for variations in his surroundings involves a matching of people and environments. A systematic method for describing various levels of personal and social function is described. It is suggested that assessing people in terms of their ability to function within these levels will allow for a broader range of alternatives in residence selection.
