PhilipRossBullock is Professor of Russian Literature and Music, University of Oxford, and Fellow and Tutor in Russian, Wadham College, Oxford. His publications include Pyotr Tchaikovsky (2016), The Correspondence of Jean Sibelius and Rosa Newmarch, 1906–1939 (2013), and Rosa Newmarch and Russian Music in Late Nineteenth- and Early Twentieth-Century England (2009), as well as Russia in Britain, 1880–1940: From Melodrama to Modernism (2013) and Translating Russia, 1890–1935 (special issue of Translation and Literature, 20.3 (2011)), both co-edited with Rebecca Beasley.
EmilyEells is Professor of British literature at the University of Paris at Nanterre. She is a specialist of nineteenth-century British art and literature and author of Proust’s Cup of Tea: Homoeroticism and Victorian Culture (2002). She is currently working on cross-Channel cultural exchange, and as part of that project published Two ‘Tombeaux’ to Oscar Wilde: Jean Cocteau’s ‘Le Portrait surnaturel de Dorian Gray’ and Raymond Laurent’s Essay on Wildean Aesthetics (2010). She is head of her department’s research group ‘Confluences’, which works on intermedial transfer and translation, and co-edited the group’s first volume of articles, entitled L’Étranger dans la langue (2013), the on-line issue of Cahiers victoriens et édouardiens 78: Emprunts et empreintes de la langue étrangère dans la littérature victorienne et édouardienne, and the Les Mots étrangers / The Words of Others (LISA e-journal, 2015). The contributions to the international conference Translating Sounds in Proust which she co-organized with Naomi Toth will be published by Champion (Paris) in 2017.
