The open platform of Zurich University for full-text publications
The publication of scientific results is very important and vital for a researcher, and these publications are key factors for an academic communication. The largest register for open access is Re3data where more than 2000 repositories can be found.
In 2006, the University of Zürich (UZH) started the open platform Zurich Open Repository and Archive (ZORA) for full text publications of the UZH. More than 110 000 publications are available on ZORA, where 58% are full text and 42% not full text articles. By early June 2018, there had been more than 6.5 million downloads from ZORA. Most of them were from Germany, USA, France, and China.
In the top ranking of journals at ZORA, PLOS One is leading ahead of Praxis (a Swiss medical review) and in 5th place is the European Heart Journal.
The focus is on certified scientific publications. ZORA is organized by the library and the informatics Center of the UZH. It operates with the open source software Eprints developed by the University of Southampton, UK.
