This edited collection originates from the symposium ‘Sewing Reality: Fashion and Non-Fiction Media’ organised at the University of Bedfordshire, UK in June 2018. The event received the support of RIMAP, the Research Institute of Media, Art and Performance. Elena Caoduro would like to thank Alexis Weedon, Jane Carr, Priyanka Savita and Karen Randell and her former Beds colleagues for their help in the organisation and running of the “Sewing Reality’ symposium. Many thanks are also due to all participants for their inspiring papers and the debates and discussion that followed.
We extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Pamela Church Gibson who believed in this ensuing book project since giving a keynote address at that event; her support during the editing process was fantastic. The manuscript received research support funding from the School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen’s University Belfast and we are particularly thankful for this help. Most importantly, we express our sincere gratitude to all contributors who have worked patiently and tirelessly, sometimes in the most difficult circumstances. Special thanks go to Gillian Leslie and Sam Johnson who chaperoned this project to completion.
