Call for Papers: Green Coal-to-Chemicals Special Issue
Clean Energy is calling for papers for a special issue to be published in 2025 on Green Coal-to-Chemicals. This is to promote technology innovation and the coal chemical industry’s development by showcasing the progress made towards development of high-value products, diversified product development, and the efforts towards decarbonization. Secondly, the special issue will dedicate itself to the clean utilization of coals through sharing knowledge and cooperation among the scientists working in this field.
The guest editors for this special issue on Green Coal-to-Chemicals are Dr Jin Yong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Emiel J. M. Hensen of the College of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology. The associate guest editors are two distinguished scholars in the field of energy and chemical engineering: Professor Fei Wei from the Chemical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University and Dr Zhuwu Men, the chief scientist of China Energy Group on indirect coal-to-liquids technologies. Professor Wei serves as the director of the Key Laboratory on Green Chemical Reaction and Technologies, teaches, and advises many doctoral students among many other important responsibilities. Dr Men serves as the center director of the indirect coal-to-liquids at the National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy (NICE).
This Special Issue of Clean Energy solicits papers in the following research areas and subjects:
- Advanced technology development on coal-to-liquid or coal-to-gas technologies for down-stream products from coal;
- Advanced technology development on coal-to-olefins/coal-to-glycol or other raw materials;
- Advanced technology development on green fuels such as green aviation fuels, green alcohols, green ammonia and biomass gasification;
- Coal-based advanced materials and their applications such as polyolefin, carbon materials and biodegradable materials;
- Advanced coupled technology development between coal chemical industries and renewable energies such as green hydrogen, green electricity and green heat coupled with chemical processes;
- Purification technologies dedicated to the productions of montan wax, Taixi coals, electronic grade chemicals, noble gases/metal separation and purification;
- Artificial intelligence (AI) and AI applications in the development of chemical technology processes.
Clean Energy is an international peer-reviewed, open-access journal sponsored by China Energy and managed by NICE. It is published bi-monthly by Oxford University Press. All inquiries should be directed to Executive Editor-in-Chief Dr Constance Senior ([email protected]).
The deadline for submission is March 1, 2025.
Manuscripts should be submitted online by logging in to this website (registration is required). Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. Research articles, review articles, perspective articles or engineering practice articles are invited. Manuscripts must be unpublished original research papers that demonstrate novelty, innovation, and application potential. The papers must be presented with clear hypotheses and must be logical, structurally sound, supported by reliable data.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. Because Clean Energy is an international journal, the quality of English in the articles should be sufficient for its world-wide audience. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts will be refereed through a double-anonymised, peer-review process.
