Abstract
The human, bovine and murine CD-MPR cDNAs (GenBank accession numbers: bovine, #M17025; human, #J02937; mouse, #M63286) all predict a protein of approximately 31 kDa with five potential N-linked glycosylation sites, four of which are utilized1·3. The 67 amino acid cytoplasmic tail is absolutely conserved in the human, bovine, and murine receptors3 There is some amino acid heterogeneity in the extracytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of the CDMPR in these three species. The CD-MPR shows some sequence identity with the cation-independent mannose 6-phosphate receptor (CI-MPR). The entire extracytoplasmic domain of the CD-MPR has 14 to 28% identity with each of the 15 contiguous repeats in the extracytoplasmic domain of the CI-MPR. The two MPRs have potential serine phosphorylation sites and stretches of acidic residues in their cytoplasmic domains.
