Abstract
This chapter uses various theoretical accounts of the emotions to understand how conversion experience, or in general spiritual growth, may in part consist in, or may bring in its train, a transformation in the appearance of the sensory world. It considers how a change in emotional state can be linked to a change in the organization and phenomenal hue of the perceptual field, and how emotional change can also be related to a change in our sense of the reality of sensory things.
