I am grateful to the many people of faith in churches and religious environmental organizations who shared their stories and allowed me to bear witness to their work. For reviews of various chapters, I thank Lyn O’Hare, Harry Shallcross, and members of the faculty writing group at Warren Wilson College, including Catherine Reid, Carol Howard, David Abernathy, John Brock, Ben Feinburg, and Michael Matin. Sarah Urquhart introduced me to the concept of natural saints as featured in her artwork. Funding from Warren Wilson College and GreenFaith supported this research.
Many individuals interviewed for the book also took the time to review chapters, and I thank LeeAnne Beres, Cassandra Carmichael, the Reverend Brian Cole, Vicki Garlock, Brigitte Gynther, the Reverend Fletcher Harper, Stan Hubbard, Tronn Moller, Sister Suzanne Moynihan, Brownie Newman, Jill Rios, Bob Rodriguez, and Will Harlan.
Warren Wilson College students in the 2009 Methods and Materials in Environmental Education class read drafts of chapters and provided constructive feedback. Thanks to Sadie Adams, Johanna Anderson, Lauren Bangasser, Vanessa Emery, Ethan Frei, Sea Gisondo, Jordan Gregson, Tyler Lavenberg, Rose Powell, Ansley Rawlins, Abigail Trajtenberg, Sarah Wishnick, and Brett Wyatt.
