Abstract
Given differences in training, education, and approaches among forensic mental health professionals, forensic reports often differ considerably in quality, content, style, and length. To illustrate the various ways in which forensic practitioners conduct forensic mental health assessments in capital contexts, this chapter presents actual sample reports provided by forensic mental health professionals. The reports in this chapter were contributed by well-respected practitioners known for their specialized expertise with death penalty assessments. These reports illustrate how death penalty assessments are conducted in the real world, and they exemplify “best practices” in assessments conducted in capital contexts.
