Abstract
In this chapter we have reviewed evidence concerning the origins of the childhood psychoses. We have also re-examined evidence for the distinction between autism and schizophrenia in childhood and have looked at the place of Asperger's syndrome and borderline states within the classificatory system. In the latter two conditions, we have explored possible links with psychotic disorders of childhood.
