On 15 August 2023, research was conducted at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, MS to evaluate 10 foliar insecticides and an untreated control on the efficacy of soybean looper in peanut. Field studies were implemented as a randomized complete block with 4 replications. All plots received applications with a MUDMASTER, 4WD Multi-Purpose Sprayer (Bowman manufacturing, Newport, AR) equipped with a compressed air high clearance mounted multi-boom calibrated to deliver 10 gallons per acre at 50 PSI using TX-6 Hollow Cone nozzles (2 nozzles per row) (TeeJet Technologies, Glendale, IL). Soybean looper densities were sampled 3, 7, and 10 days after treatment (DAT) by taking 2 drops, 10 row feet, using a black cloth from the center 2 rows of each plot. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and means were separated using Fisher’s protected LSD (P ≤ 0.05).

At 3 DAT, all treatments except for Elevest 2.22SC had lower soybean looper densities than the untreated control. Steward 1.25EC provided the greatest control of soybean loopers by having the lowest density, however, was not different than Besiege 1.252CS, Intrepid Edge 3F, Diamond 0.83EC, or Vantacor 5SC (Table 1). At 5 DAT, all treatments lowered soybean looper densities compared to the untreated control except for Leprotec 1.45SC. Intrepid Edge 3F had the lowest amount of soybean loopers at this sample date and was similar to Vantacor 5SC, Besiege 1.252CS, Steward 1.25EC, and Intrepid 2F. However, Intrepid 2F was not different from Spear-RC 0.17SL plus Leprotec 1.45SC at either rate or Leprotec 1.45SC (Table 1). At 10 DAT, all treatments except Elevest 2.22SC, Spear-RC 0.17SL plus Leprotec 1.45SC, and Leprotec 1.45SC provided better control of soybean loopers compared to the untreated control. Intrepid Edge 3F provided the best control of soybean loopers at 10 DAT, however, was not statically different than Vantacor 5SC, Besiege 2.22CS, Steward 1.25EC, Intrepid 2F, and Diamond 0.83EC (Table 1).1
