Efficacy of foliar applied insecticides on redbanded stink bug in soybean II, 2022

Redbanded stink bug trials were conducted at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, MS on 7 September 2022 to compare the efficacy of 6 insecticides to an untreated check. The field study was implemented as a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. All plots received applications with a MUDMASTER, 4WD Multi-Purpose Sprayer, (Bowman manufacturing, Newport AR) equipped with a compressed air high clearance mounted multi-boom calibrated to deliver 10 gallons per acre at 50 PSI using TX-6 Hollow Cone nozzles (2 nozzles per row) (TeeJet Technologies, Glendale, Ill). The treatments included: Brigade 2EC, Orthene 90S, Dimethoate 4EC, Endigo ZCX, Brigade 2EC + Dimethoate 4EC, and Brigade 2EC + Orthene 90S. At 2 and 14 DAT, redbanded stink bugs were sampled by taking 25 sweeps with a 38.1 cm diameter sweep net. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and mean separation was attained using Fishers protected LSD.

Orthene 90S, Endigo ZCX, and Brigade 2EC + Dimethoate 4EC were the only treatments that resulted in significantly lower redbanded stink bugs than the untreated check at 2 DAT. At 14 DAT, all plots except for Dimethoate 4EC and Brigade 2EC + Orthene 90S resulted in lower redbanded stink bugs than the untreated check (Table 1).
