Kevin Sneed

The ASHP Award of Excellence recognizes people whose nationally significant achievements or contributions have advanced the ability of pharmacists to care for patients. This year’s awardee is Kevin B. Sneed, tenured professor and dean at the University of South Florida (USF) Health Taneja College of Pharmacy and senior associate vice president of USF Health in Tampa.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sneed was instrumental in providing reassurance to patients, especially within the black community, while debunking vaccine misinformation and encouraging people to get vaccinated. He performed over 140 individual COVID-19 educational programs locally and nationally for stakeholder communities and organizations. In 2021, he received the Francisco Rodriguez Award from the George Edgecomb Bar Association to honor his commitment to social justice during the pandemic.

Sneed joined the USF faculty in 2007 as assistant dean and associate professor with the college of medicine. As the founding dean of the USF College of Pharmacy when it was established in 2009, Sneed was responsible for developing the college’s strategic vision, leading its accreditation activities, recruiting visiting faculty, and establishing collaborations with experiential practice sites. Sneed was named senior associate vice president for USF Health in 2014.
