About the Journal
Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (PTEP) is an international journal that publishes articles on theoretical and experimental physics. PTEP is a fully open access, online-only journal published by the Physical Society of Japan.
PTEP is the successor to Progress of Theoretical Physics (PTP), which terminated in December 2012 and merged into PTEP in January 2013.
PTP was founded in 1946 by Hideki Yukawa, the first Japanese Nobel Laureate. PTEP, the successor journal to PTP, has a broader scope than that of PTP covering both theoretical and experimental physics.
PTEP mainly covers areas including particles and fields, nuclear physics, astrophysics and cosmology, beam physics and instrumentation, and general and mathematical physics.
PTEP is published monthly from 2013.
Citing This Journal
Articles can be cited using the volume and unique identifier number, e.g. S. Panda, T. G. Sarkar, and S. P. Khastgir, Prog. Theor. Exp. Phys., 2012, 123B09 (2012).
Please note that PTEP uses the year of publication as the volume number, so in the above example the first instance of “2012” is the volume number and the second instance is the year of publication. PTEP is an online-only journal and is not continuously paginated. A unique Article ID is used to cite a paper where page numbers are traditionally used. An Article ID is assigned to each paper and appears clearly on the pdf and html versions. The Article ID is made up of the issue number (“12” in the above example), the number one, two or three depending on whether it is a letter, invited paper or paper (1=letter, 2=invited paper, 3=paper; “3” in the above example), a letter corresponding to the subject section of the paper (a list of these subject sections and their corresponding letters; “B” in the above example), and the sequence of publication within that issue and category (“09” in the above example).
